CFI NEWS UPDATE We are happy to now officially congratulate Quentin Carter on his new position as Chief Flying Instructor of the Sunshine Coast Aero Club. Quentin has been a member of the Sunshine Coast Aero Club for over 22 years! Quentin enjoys cattle farming and flying his Bushby Mustang II. He started flying at 6 years of age and obtained his PPL in 2001. With over 500 hours of tailwheel instructing Quentin is one of our senior instructors here at the club and is looking forward to his new role as CFI.  AGM and WINGS night… A big thank you to our outgoing Directors, Warren Schulz, Gerry Mussen, and Gareth Williamson for their service to the Sunshine Coast Aero Club over the years. We welcome Mike Macbeth, Morne Terblanche, and Trevor McFarlane to the Director roles. Our new Directors join the existing team of Quentin Carter, Raymond Brown, Lenroy Trimmer, and Naomi McQueen. They will meet tonight to decide on the roles of each of the Directors, and I shall update you all on the outcome. Thank you to all of our nominees.  With the appointment of the new committee, I thought it would be a good time for our members to put through any ideas or suggestions you may have for the club. Is there something you would like to see happen around the club, or for future events? Click on the SUGGESTIONS BOX and leave me your ideas. I will pass it on to the committee for consideration.   We celebrated the overlooked achievements in the past for Alan Brownbill and Quentin Carter who havent actually ever received their “wings” Thank you to Jet and Seb from the Sea Eagles for their first AGM presentation. The Sea Eagles provide a fantastic opportunity for our junior members to rotate through the roles of Chairperson, timekeeper, and minute taker, giving each member of the team a chance to build confidence and skills in a supportive and friendly environment. They get to do a lot of fun aviation-related activities as well. This past week saw them head off to the Queensland Air Museum for a guided tour thanks to club member Luca Jones. Both aircraft have now had their extensive 100hourly maintenance checks and are now back in action. As a result of the findings during maintenance, we have introduced some adjusted training methods. More attention will be given to the stick position from start-up to shutdown. A lesson consisting of taxiing for the full length of the runway at 25 kt will be required. Your instructor will go over this in more detail. This has been trialed in the past week and has had fantastic feedback from the students. This will help preserve the state of your aircraft’s life with improved techniques, save thousands $$$ in repairs, and be a lesson that can be conducted in adverse weather conditions. Student Angeline Yuen-French on her turning lesson this morning. Looks like fun! They also saw a couple of F18s and a Mantaray. 
First official lesson for Seb Steele. At only 14 years of age, he is keen and a valued member of the Sea Eagles.
